In 2017, Georgina planted three historic dye plants in the old playground at Primary: woad for blue, madder for red and weld for yellow. With the support of Primary, this first dye garden has subsequently expanded to showcase a range of dye plants, as well as medicinal and edible plants which are shared with the community. In 2023, Primary was redeveloped to become more accessible and the dye garden became a key feature of the entrance from Seely Road. The redevelopment also included the construction of an outdoor kitchen with a sink, aluminium work surfaces and electricity points, as well as a sheltered area for wet weather. Visitors to Primary also appreciate the award-winning Small Food Bakery and Beam art gallery, bookshop and café.

Georgina shares her skills in making and using dyes, inks and paints from plants (and sometimes from insects and minerals) as ‘Plant Dye Studio’. She runs seasonal workshops and hosts monthly ‘make and meet’ gatherings in Nottingham.
